Mr. Charles Edward Barnes, 82, of West End, North Carolina entered into eternal rest on Monday, October 20, 2025.
On the early morning hours of Monday, October 20, 2025, Charles Edward Barnes, a loving father, son, brother, cousin, and friend, transitioned after years of different illnesses.
Charles was born September 11, 1943, he was the eldest child of the late Cora Lee Grady and Charles Barnes of Rockingham, North Carolina. During his early years he attended the Catholic School system and graduated from Academy Heights High School in the Taylortown Municipality of West End, NC. Later, he was drafted into the United States Army and served as a paratrooper. He often talked about his days jumping out of airplanes. He earned an honorable discharge.
Charles (who was called Barney since youth) relocated to the Eastwood Community where he was employed as an auto mechanic until becoming disabled. Charles was baptized as one of Jehovah Witnesses on July 7, 1984, and he faithfully preached the Kingdom of God and the beautiful hope of living in paradise until his death at the age of 82 years.
Charles was preceded in death by his parent and three brothers, William “Felt” Barnes, Nathaniel “Boone” Barnes and Richard Barnes.
Those left to cherish fond memories of Charles are, one daughter, Valerie McLaughlin of the Eastwood Community in West End, NC; a son, Dana Womack of Sanford, NC; four granddaughters, Olivia, Kenyatta, Shawnne, and Miranda; two grandsons, Dana Jr. (DJ) and Elijah; two great grandsons, Za’karri and Kalb; two great-granddaughters, Ada and Josie; one brother, Fred Barnes; two sisters, Agnes Barnes and Lynn Barnes; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family will be hosting A Memorial Service for Mr. Charles Edward Barnes at 3pm on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 1468 W. Pennsylvania Ave., Southern Pines, NC 28387.
