Ms. Brenda Diane Harrington, 71, of Southern Pines, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, January 25, 2024, at Firsthealth/Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.

Brenda Diane Harrington, age 71, formerly of Southern Pines, North Carolina, passed away on Thursday, January 25, 2024. Brenda was born on January 23, 1953, to the late George and Ruth  Harrington in her beloved city of Pinehurst, North Carolina. She was the fifth oldest of nine children.

She was preceded in death by five sisters, Annie Jane, Helen, Mary, Shirley, and Edith, two brothers, Rudolph and Harvey, and one great- grandson, Hayden. 

Brenda attended Pinecrest High  School and received her Certified  Nursing Assistant certificate from Sandhills Community College. She was employed as a Certified Nurse’s Assistant at  Pinehurst Nursing Center and St. Joseph for approximately 30 years, combined. Brenda was big-hearted and kind, and she accepted everyone with an open heart, open arms, and a perpetual smile.

In 2012, Brenda retired due to health issues. She enjoyed working, spending time with family and friends, completing word search puzzles, and cheering on her grandchildren in their  extracurricular activities.

Brenda was an exemplary mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. She embodied the best qualities: unconditional love, strength of spirit, and unending generosity, which could be seen in her care  for her mother, children, grandchildren, the entire family, and countless others. 

Brenda is survived by her two children, Robert Harrington (Christina) of Marston, NC, and Camella Jones (Marcus) of Raleigh, NC; a sister, Viola Stanford of Southern Pines, NC; a special  cousin, Ernestine Gilchrist; special friends, Carolyn and Dianne; six grandchildren, Justice, Teara, Kelvyn, Noah, MacKenzie, and Marcus (aka Jun); three great-grandchildren, Kayleigh, Karter,  and Kynleigh; and a host of nieces and nephews.
