Mr. Amin A. Bilal, 74, of Whispering Pines, North Carolina, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at Magnolia Gardens in Southern Pines, North Carolina. 

Amin A. Bilal was born in Tyrrell County, Columbia, North Carolina, on July 19, 1949, to the late Ernest and Florine Olds. Amin A. Bilal departed this life and went home to be with the Lord  Jesus Christ on June 11, 2024.

Amin received his formal education from Tyrrell High School and graduated in 1967. He served in the United States Army from September 12, 1969, to March 16, 1972, where he had  assignments in Vietnam. Upon separation from the Army, he transferred to the USA Reserves. Upon completion of his obligated period, he enlisted in the United States Navy on October 27, 1980, and retired on February 28, 1995.

He was a loving husband, brother, uncle, and friend. He served his country with pride and was committed to his Muslim faith. After his separation from the Navy, Amin pursued a degree and certification to become a dietitian.

Amin was married to Intisar Bilal for 52 years until her death on April 24, 2024.

Amin was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Florine Olds, Callie Donia Griswell-Hassell, and Dward W. Hassell; four brothers, Blair Olds, James Olds, Charles Spruill, Herbert Hassell, and Joe Louis Spencer, and one sister, Virginia F. Roberts.

He leaves to mourn his passing, five brothers, Dward C. Hassell of North Carolina, Joseph Olds of Pennsylvania, Shelton Olds (Mary) of Hillside, New Jersey, Bernard Olds of Greensboro, North  Carolina and William Olds (Rosa) of Columbia, North Carolina; two sisters, Carolyn Olds-McCarty (Steven) of Whispering Pines, North Carolina and Agnes D. Hassell of Petersburg, Virginia; and  a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
