Mrs. Alverta Hines Williams, 91, of Aberdeen, North Carolina entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, May 22, 2024.

Alverta Williams, loving Mother, Mother-in-law, Sister-in-law, Grandmother, and Aunt, entered eternal rest on May 22, 2024, at home surrounded by love. Alverta was born on March 10, 1933, to  Joseph and Mary Hines in Virginia. Alverta was the oldest of four siblings.

Alverta was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Mary; her husband, David Williams; two children, Steven and Sandra Williams; and three brothers, Wattell Hines, David Hines, and Joseph Hines.

Alverta was educated in Farmville, Virginia, and graduated from Prince Edwards High School. She then worked on Manhattan Ferry as a nurse’s aide and in the domestic industry, where she retired.

Alverta was a faithful member of Fountain Spring Baptist Church in the Bronx, NY, for over 50 years, where she also served on the Pastor Aide Committee until she moved to North Carolina,  where her health began to decline.

Alverta was a kind and generous woman to all who knew her. She opened her home to many people and would cook and feed just about anyone who knocked at her door. 

Alverta leaves to cherish her dearly loved children, Ralph Williams of New York City, David Jr. Williams (Sharon) of South Carolina, Beverly Williams West (Jake) of North Carolina, Diane  McAllister of North Carolina, and Mary Francis Williams of New York City; one sister-in-law, Naomi Hines; her grandchildren, Kevin Williams, Steven Williams, Cory Williams, Tiffany Williams,  Mahogony Williams, Michael Williams, Danisha Williams, Brandy Kellman, Wayne Kellman, Travis Williams, Jamel Williams, Diana Odom, and Melissa McAllister; and a host of great-grandchildren; great, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family and friends.
