Ms. Alice Mae (Burrus) Williams, 96, of Sanford, North Carolina, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, March 10, 2022 at Central Carolina Hospital in Sanford, North Carolina.
Alice B. Williams was born on March 31, 1925 to the late Frank and Nora Burrus.
In 1941, Alice married her soulmate, Henry Williams, Sr. who died at the age of 47-years-old of a sudden heart attack; to this union 11 children were born; 8 girls and 3 boys. Alice raised her minor children after the death of her husband without the support of many; she never complained in his absence. She worked hard to ensure that they had food on the table and cloths on their back; there was never a time that her children went without. Alice always put the needs of family before that of her own.
She was compassionate and loving and taught these same characteristics to her children.
She worked for several years as a custodian at Jonesboro Elementary and later as a nurse's aide to the late Tommy Black until her retirement.
Alice was loving and compassionate; she met no strangers as she showed love to everyone that had the pleasure of embracing her presence. Alice spent most of her life caring for others, including raising several of her grandchildren. She played an intricate role in their lives and made them the center of her life.
Alice was a member of Mt. Pisgah FWB Church for over 50 years; she also frequented the Church of Many Colors under the leadership of her son, Gerome Williams, Sr,. "aka" Babyboy.
Alice was preceded in death by her spouse, Henry Williams, Sr; daughters, Gloria Jean Williams, Zelma Mae Williams and Alfreda Gross and one son, Henry Larry Williams: her mother & father, Nora & Frank Burrus and siblings, Napoleon Burrus, Jeannie Bell Burrus, Melvina Pipkin.
