Mr. Alexander Monroe, Jr., 65, of Sanford, North Carolina entered into eternal rest on Saturday, October 29, 2022 at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
Alexander Monroe, Jr. was born in Lee County on May 5, 1957. He was known as “Bunchie” to most. He was called away to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 29, 2022. He was the fourth oldest in the family of four sisters and one brother.
He was the son of the late Alexander Monroe Sr. and Margaret Monroe Thomas. He was preceded in death by his sisters Betty Jean Monroe, Elizabeth Bandy, and Yvonne Monroe, known as Ballie to most, his daughter Carla Jeter and his son Frederick Jeter. He enjoyed cooking, listening to music, talking on the phone, going to flea markets, and traveling to Florida.
Alex was a member of Mt. Nebo FWB Church and was in the Young Adult Choir.
Alex graduated from Greenwood School in 1975. He worked for Davis Glass for many years until he started his own business - Southeast Contract Glazing. He continued to operate Southeast Contract Glazing until he began having health issues. After closing Southeast Contract Glazing, he worked for a few companies until his health declined, and he could no longer work.
He leaves to cherish fond memories his wife, Sandra Monroe, of the home; his sons, Devonte Umstead of Sanford, NC, and Jordan Swann of Sanford, NC; one brother, Curtis Monroe (Jacqueline) of Southern Pines, NC; two sisters, Linda Cotton (Roy) of Sanford, NC, and Annette Monroe of Sanford, NC; two grandchildren, Nariyah Salley and Ahvion Salley-Umstead; his motherin-law and father-in-law of Oxford, NC; four brothers-inlaw; two sisters-in-law and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
