Mr. Albert Turner Battle, 94, of 2504 Colon Road, Sanford, North Carolina, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, June 17, 2021 at Westfield Rehabilitation & Health Center of Sanford, North Carolina.
Albert T. Battle was born July 29, 1926 in Lemon Springs, North Carolina to the late John Willie and Lottie Battle. He was one of 11 children.
Albert was married to Mary Jane Battle. To this union six children were born.
Affectionately called “Bro. Battle”, Albert was the community barber and mechanic. He built his own barbershop and garage. He worked 45 years at Sanford Brick and Tile Co. as a Forklift Operator.
Albert was a devoted husband, daddy, and granddad. He believed in speaking what was on his mind.
He joined Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church at an early age, where he served as a trustee and a Senior Choir Member. He faithfully attended church and Sunday School until the declining of his health. He also played the guitar for his sister’s choir, “The Gospel Heralds”, for many years.
Albert was preceded in death by his son, Charles Battle.
He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Mary Jane; five children, Stella (Edward), George (Ella Mae), Mary Alice (Pete), John (Cheryl), and Donnie Ray (Renee); seventeen grandchildren; thirty-five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Helen and Griselda; two brothers, Howard and Otis; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Arrangements are entrusted to McLeod Funeral Home of Sanford, North Carolina.
