Adolphus Headen Obituary

Mr. Adolphus Headen, 81, of Goldston, North Carolina entered into eternal rest on Monday, December 5, 2022 at his residence.

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. (2 Timothy 4:7)

A Time to Be Born: Adolphus Headen was born February 11, 1941, to the late James Dennis Headen and Margaret Gertrude Cotten Headen. He was one of nine children.

A Time to Plant: Adolphus received his formal education at Goldston Colored School, where he excelled academically. He served two years in the U.S. Army and received an
honorable discharge in 1965. “Dolphus,” as he was referred to by close friends and family, had many talents. He worked at Kayser Roth, Work Bench, Hotel Europia, Miller Heating,
Chatham Hospital, and Earth Tech with Buddy Keller III and his wife, Linda Keller. Adolphus loved his family, church, music (Al Green), dancing, and entertaining. He had a mean
swing dance and could lead the most unskilled dancer. His tall stature, handsome features, and immaculate dress ethics were sure to get your attention. However, what made him
extraordinary was his love for all people and his refusal to allow hatred and indifferences among people to steal his joy. “Love and Happiness” was his mantra for life. Everyone
Adolphus met left his presence feeling special. Adolphus joined Roberts Chapel Missionary Baptist Church and served faithfully for as long as his health permitted. He served as a
Trustee, Usher, and member of the choir.

A Time to Mourn: He was preceded in death by his parents, Dennis and Margret; two brothers, Milton and James Dennis; three sisters, Bessie, Arzelia, and Veronica. Adolphus ended his journey here on earth on Monday, December 5, 2022, peacefully at his home in Goldston, North Carolina. He leaves to cherish his memories his devoted and dedicated friend and caretaker, Therl R. Matthews, one son, James Alvin Spruiell of Sanford, NC; one granddaughter, Shante Spruiell of Fayetteville, NC; three sisters, Izetta Headen Rives of Goldston, NC, Priscillia Headen of Sanford,
NC and Sharon Headen Wicker of Goldston, NC; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Please keep the family and friends of Adolphus Headen in your thoughts and prayers.
